Lifetime Achievement in Engineering Award
About the Award
The Bahrain Society of Engineers grants the Lifetime Achievement in Engineering Award to prominent Bahraini engineering figures who have significantly contributed to the advancement of engineering work in Bahrain. The recipients of this award are nominated by the Award Committee.
Award Benefits
The recipient of the Lifetime Achievement in Engineering Award will receive:
- A commemorative shield and a certificate of appreciation.
- An upgrade of their membership status in the Society to Fellow Member.
- The honorary title of Honorary Member if the recipient is not already a member of the Society (in accordance with Article 10, Clause 9 of the Society’s Constitution).
Award Eligibility Criteria
- The nominee must be of Bahraini nationality and still living.
- Must hold a Bachelor's degree or diploma in an engineering discipline.
- Must have provided outstanding and valuable services to the profession and the community.
- Must not be a current member of the Society’s Board of Directors, the Award Committee, or the Evaluation Committee.
- Must have more than 25 years of professional and administrative experience in any engineering field.
- Must have made significant contributions to the development of the profession (technical practice, leadership, or engineering education), either through their workplace, the Bahrain Society of Engineers, or other professional associations outside Bahrain.
- Must have made notable contributions in their area of specialization or led distinguished projects within their organization.
- Must have contributed to the training and development of young engineers.
- Must have a clear record of community and volunteer work.
Nomination and Selection Process
- The Award Committee prepares an initial list of no fewer than ten candidates who meet the award criteria.
- A special Evaluation Committee is appointed by the Award Committee, consisting of five experienced engineers who are members of the Society, to review the initial list. The Evaluation Committee may also add other qualified candidates to the list.
- The Evaluation Committee may seek assistance from the Society’s administrative staff to gather information about the nominees or contact external sources for information, but must not contact the nominees directly.
- The Evaluation Committee submits a report to the Award Committee, including a shortlist of candidates and detailed information about their work in the public or private sector, professional achievements, and contributions to the engineering field.
- The Evaluation Committee and the Award Committee hold a closed meeting to discuss the shortlisted candidates and select the award recipient. The selected name and a brief profile are submitted to the Board of Directors for approval and further action.
- If the Board of Directors approves the selected candidate, the Award Committee is notified in writing. The Award Committee may revise or confirm its recommendation and respond to the Board with clarification if needed.
